Trahan Named Conference Swimmer Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (The American/SMU) – Erin Trahan was named the American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week following her performance in the season-opening SMU Classic, league officials announced Tuesday.

The senior posted an NCAA B Cut in the 100-yard butterfly at 53.48 to place fourth in the event, good for the nation's 11th fastest time this season. In the 200 distance, Trahan also finished fourth, covering the distance in the nation's 16th fastest time at 1:59.88.

Competing on both medley relays for the Mustangs, she helped the 400-yard medley relay to the fourth fastest performance in the country at 3:38.97, and the 200 to the 12th at 1:40.35.

The Classic featured a pair of preseason Top 25 teams in No. 13 Auburn and No. 21 Louisville, as well as Northwestern, who is receiving votes in the poll.

Trahan is the reigning AAC Most Outstanding Swimmer and was a 2019 NCAA qualifier in the 100 and 200 fly, as well as the 50-yard freestyle. She posted career-best times in all three events at the 2019 conference meet to place her in the top three of SMU's all-time top performer lists in the 100 and 200 fly and the top 10 in the 50 free.

The Mustangs are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Houston.
