SMU improved to 5-0 this weekend with two convincing wins over Southwest Texas State on Saturday and LSU on Sunday. The Mustangs dominated the field on Saturday beating SWT 17-0, the first shut out SMU has posted in quite some time. Sunday, the Mustangs stepped it up after a 2-2 tie at the end of the first quarter to win 15-3. The defense played extemely well all weekend and the attack appeared unstoppable. Much work lies ahead as SMU has yet to face conference powers Texas A&M and the University of Texas.

Special thanks to all the parents and fans who made the trip to Dallas for parents weekend. The weekend was a great success topped off by two wins.

Congralutations to the LAX Team. Great weekend with two convincing wins. Good luck for the remaining game. Is the team aiming for a conference tournament? Does the Lone Star Alliance have a year end playoff? Who from the Lone Star Alliance qualifies for the Nationals in St. Louis? Tournament winner? Best record? Can more than one go to Nationals from Texas? Anyway, keep up the great work.

The LSA will send it's champion to St. Louis and the national championships. More than 1 team can go -- much like NCAA's as an at-large. I believe UT and A&M have gone before (but not sure). The one thing SMU needs to do is schedule tougher out of conference games i.e. BYU, Colorado State, Michigan, etc. in that way getting to St. Louis would be easier. Toughest games UT and A&M are ahead, but what a great start to the season and the re-birth of SMU lacrosse.

Thanks, Boston. Is there a Lone Star Year End Tournament and/or is the best regualr season record going to St. Louis?

Yes, there is a conference tournament for the Lone Star Alliance. I believe it is the weekend of April 26th in College Station, TX and features the top 4 teams from the conference. Saturday is #1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3. Sunday is the winner of the Sat. games. The times and more information may be available at www.uslia.com but they've had some website problems recently.

LSA Championships at the end of April send the league champion. It is possible to send an at-large, however with our OOC schedule I would doubt it.

SMU has scheduled UC-Davis later on in this semester so that a win could boost our chances for an at-large bid. In order to get the at-large bid, we would have to beat UT and UC-Davis or win the tournament. But, with A&M being so good (and serious), the automatic win that comes with the tournament win is unlikely.

Thanks, Juice. I believe you are a current player or very close to the team. The threads on Lacrosse are great, especially for us who are big fans but miles away. (Plan to fly in for the Texas game). Can the results and excellent summaries that have shown up on this board be loaded onto the SMU Lacrosse Site? Do you know who maintains it? The Web-site will be an excellent recruiting tool to promote the game and continued progress of the Mustangs. Lacrosse is a great addition to SMU. Good luck in your next game. Who's up next?

Has TCU cancelled the rest of their season? They were scheduled to play SMU this weekend, however I saw that they have forfeited some of their games.

TCU has disbanded and forfeited all games this year.

It is surprising that TCU is losing interest. I was at the game last year in Fort Worth and they had a huge turnout of players. BTW, their web-site hasn't been updated, despite being good one in the past.

First poll out from USLIA has SMU receiving votes for the top 25. Of the 150+ schools, SMU received the 30th place position. Great job boys, a win over UT or A&M will get you into the top 20! The USLIA site is http://www.uslia.com/ if you want to look it over. Also it says the team has already locked in a spot for the LSA championships in April!!!
