Mustangs Finish Second At SMU Invitational

Erin Trahan and Johanna Holloway came away with victories to lead the Mustangs on the final night of the SMU Invitational at the Robson & Lindley and Barr-McMillion Saturday. SMU finished second in the seven-team field at the three-day event, hosted for the first time by the Mustangs.

Trahan was one of three Mustang swimmers to achieve NCAA B standards in the pool throughout the event, while Holloway and the remaining three divers on SMU's roster all registered at least one NCAA Zone qualifying score during the event.

In a season-best performance, Trahan paced the field in the 200-yard butterfly, garnering her third-career B cut in the event with a time of 1:57.39. Also representing SMU in the Championship Final was Olivia Grossklaus, who finished fifth at 2:00.91.

The evening opened with a third-place performance from Gabi Grobler in the 200 back, where she was just shy of hitting the standard by .01 at 1:57.12. Felicia Anderson was just off her pace with a fourth place finish at 1:57.44. Both times were lifetime bests for the Mustangs and place them ninth and 10th, respectively, on SMU's all-time top performers list.

Sam Smith qualified for the evening's 100 free final and kept the trend going with her career mark of 50.69, good for sixth in the event.

On platform, Holloway finished the event with a 65+-point victory over her closest competitor, registering a five-round 276.15. Nicole Stambo was fifth in the event scoring a 183.10.
