Holloway Qualifies For NCAAs On Platform

DALLAS (SMU) – Johanna Holloway placed sixth in the platform final at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships March 18-21 in Athens, Georgia.

The sophomore became the first Mustang diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Audra Egenolf in 2010, who qualified in all three events.

Holloway used a sixth place finish in prelims to qualify for the event finals, scoring 253.90 points. Adding on to her prelims score, Holloway finished with a final total of 507.40 to finish inside the top nine and move on to Athens.

Nicole Stambo also competed on platform, having represented the Mustangs in all three events at Zones in her first season on the Hilltop. She finished 19th, earning her highest placement of the event, just one spot out of finals qualification.

Holloway will join swimmer Erin Trahan at the Championships, who qualified in the 100-yard butterfly and has the option to swim the 200-yard butterfly at the event. Check SMUMustangs.com for event information and coverage.
