Ponies face UT-Dallas Wednesday at Westcott Field

Hyndman goes for 300th SMU victory

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team returns home for two games this week, starting Wednesday evening vs. UT-Dallas at 7:30 p.m. at Westcott Field, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 1, but was postponed due to rain. The Mustangs also host Centenary Saturday evening at Westcott Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as well. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for youths. Those fans with a current SMU ID receive free admission.

SMU head coach Schellas Hyndman is nearing a significant milestone, as he needs one more victory to eclipse the 300-win mark during his 20-year tenure at SMU. The victory would also give Hyndman the distinguishable title of SMU's winningest coach, passing men's basketball coach Doc Hayes, who posted a record of 299 wins and 191 losses as head coach from 1947-67.

The Mustangs come into Wednesday's game vs. UT-Dallas (4-3) with a record of 5-1-1 after capturing the Golden Hurricane Classic title with a win over Denver and a tie vs. Stanford this past weekend. Junior goalkeeper T.J. Tomasso was selected MVP of the Classic and also received his second consecutive MVC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

SMU's national rankings for this week remains somewhat unchanged from last week (fifth - Soccer Times.com Coaches' poll; ninth in NSCAA/adidas poll; and ninth in Soccer America's poll).
