Trahan, Holloway Named CSCAA All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CSCAA/SMU) – Erin Trahan and Johanna Holloway earned All-America honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, the organization announced Wednesday.

Trahan was awarded accolades in the 100-yard butterfly, while Holloway earned the nod on platform. The pair would have competed at the 2020 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships in March.

"We are very proud of both Erin and Jo for earning this distinction for our women's swimming and diving program," head coach Steve Collins said of the honors.

Trahan was set to compete in the 100 fly, with the option to compete in the 200 fly at the event. It was the second selection for the senior, who registered consecutive qualifying times in the 100 fly. She was seeded 18th in the event after a career-best 51.68 posted at the American Athletic Conference Championships.

Trahan is a three-time conference champion in the 100 fly and is the Mustangs' second fastest performer all-time in the event.

"We are so excited that Erin has been recognized by the CSCAA with the NCAA All-America award," Collins added. "Erin has been a leader for our team this season, and is very deserving of this award for the hard work and dedication she has shown this season."

Holloway used a sixth place finish on platform at the March NCAA Zone Championships to automatically qualify for the NCAA event. The sophomore became the first Mustang diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Audra Egenolf in 2010, who qualified on all three events.

"I am so proud of what Johanna was able to accomplish this season," commented head diving coach Darian Schmidt. "She had a great AACs on all three events and dove incredibly at our zone meet. She has a lot left in the tank, and I am excited to see what else she can accomplish in the future."

"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, the coaches did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. "The student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."

Due to the cancellation, the CSCAA Board adjusted the All-America selection criteria for each Division. At the Division I level, all relays achieving 'A' Standards, individuals selected to the NCAA Championships, and divers entered in uncontested events from the Zone C Diving Qualification meet were named All-Americans.
