This may be the toughest one. Payne Stewart won 2 U.S. Opens and developed a brand. Bryson DeChambeau won U.S. Amateur and NCAA singles title. Colt Knost won U.S. Public Course and U.S. Amateur as did Kelly Kraft. We had one woman win the NCAA women's back in the 70's. I'm going with Payne Stewart.

Agree on Payne. Plus he was a great ambassador for SMU

As of today, it's Payne. Too bad he passed at the height of his career. No telling what Bryson might accomplish at the rate he's going.

If it is SMU golf then it is Bryson DeChambeau and it's not even close. If it's SMU golf alum then it is Payne Stewart and it's not even close right now, but Bryson is a strong contender to surpass him in that too.

Kyle O'Brien and Amy Benz each won the women's individual National Championship while at SMU. Thought I would mention them even though Women's Golf is at times a touchy subject.
