Three Mustangs Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WGCA/SMU) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) today announced its 2019-20 list of All-American Scholars and three Mustangs received the honor.

Lauren Chappell, Megan Daleo and Serena Shah all picked up accolades, meeting the minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50.

Chappell is double majoring in math and civil engineering with a minor in mechanical engineering. During the shortened 2019-20 season, she posted a season-best performance at the Mustangs' SMU/DAC Invitational where she tied for 31st. At the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, she signed for a season-best round of 1-over 74.

This is the third consecutive year Chappell has earned the honor.

In her first season with the Mustangs, Daleo registered three top-30 finishes, highlighted by a 17th place performance at the SMU/DAC Invitational. She finished tied for 30th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, firing a season-best 3-under 70 in the second round. Daleo is an applied physiology and sport management major with a concentration in sport performance leadership.

The honor is the second for Daleo, who transferred to the Hilltop last fall.

For Shah, this is the first All-American Scholar honor. The sophomore's year featured a top-three finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl event, where she shot a 5-under 214. She also posted a top-15 finish at the White Sands Invitational. Shah's major is undeclared.
