Eight Mustangs Named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CSCAA/SMU) – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) today released its individual Scholar All-America Teams and eight Mustangs made the list.

To be selected as a member of the CSCAA Scholar All-America first team as an individual, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher and have been invited to their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

Johanna Holloway and Erin Trahan led the Mustangs as first-team selections, while Katie Crown, Gabi Grobler, Olivia Grossklaus, Frederica Kizek, Taylor Ohlhauser and Nicole Stambo earned honorable mention accolades.

Both Holloway (platform) and Trahan (100 fly) earned All-America honors from the CSCAA in their respective events after receiving invites to the 2020 NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships. Trahan was the conference champion in the 100 fly and earned all-conference honors in the 200 fly and 50 free, while Holloway was the runner-up on both 3 meter and platform.

Both are repeat selections for the Scholar All-America award with Trahan earning it for the fourth season and Holloway for the second.

All three of Holloway's diving teammates, Crown, Ohlhauser and Stambo, earned honorable mention accolades, having all represented SMU at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. At the conference level, the Mustang divers earned four all-league selections and 10 total spots in Championship Finals at the conference event.

On the swimming side, conference champion Grossklaus as well as first-time selections Grobler and Kizek were honored. The trio combined for five Championship Finals appearances at the conference meet.

The team posted a 3.8 GPA this spring, up from a 3.47 in the fall. Individually, four student-athletes were named to various levels of the SMU Honor Roll during both the fall and spring semesters. In the pool, SMU earned runner-up honors at the American Athletic Conference Championships.

Impressive that 8 Women excel at academics and their sport. That is a large percentage of the Women’s Swimming & Diving Team.

Congratulations, MSD
