Did yall see that story on the home page - someone from Hawaii got WAC Player of the Year? If she's the same one who came in last year, then a travesty has taken place -- she's not even in Kim Harvey's league, let alone better than Kim. If she has better stats, it's because UH loads up its schedule with creampuffs like Chaminade and Hawaii-Hilo. They're like the football teams that boost their stats and record by beating up on nobodies.
We know better -- Kim is BY FAR the best player in the WAC.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

"Kai, from Kahuku, Oahu, followed a sensational freshman season with an awe-inspiring sophomore campaign. She has set nearly a dozen new conference and school records and leads the nation in points (62) and goals scored (29). Kai, who was selected as the preseason player of the year, set a new conference mark with 14 goals in WAC play, eclipsing her record of 10 last season. She also posted four hat tricks this season, including a four-goal performance at Nevada that tied another WAC mark."
Hard to argue with that. Here is their schedule; they played some decent teams:

I saw Kai last year when Hawaii came in to play SMU. She's a selfish player who looks to shoot first, second and third, and if there are no shots available, she forces a bad shot. Her teammates know that if she gets the ball, they might as well look for a rebound, because it's not coming back. She's a one-dimensional player. Kim Harvey is a well-rounded player who understands the entire game, not just scoring. She's a vastly underrated passer who makes her teammates better. She got jobbed on this award.

Of course she should have won the award. How can you vote against a kid from Garland?

smoo power, if all you say about kai is true, why did she stand around yetserday and let her team bet embarrassed. Hawaii came across as a bunch of thugs and she was "no factor". maybe it is a statement about the WAC coaching that they could choose someone like kai as all-anything. at the end of her career, let's see how many conference championships to her name.

Kai did nothing but hurt her team yesterday. To say she's the WAC Player of the Year is a joke. It's like saying a great H-O-R-S-E player should be an MVP in basketball. She's good - but not great - if she's all alone and has a clear path to the goal. Against a good defense, she's nothing but a sprinter, not a scorer. I can only imagine how many goals Kim Harvey would have if she had Kai's speed.
Looking forward to seeing the Ponies win another championship tonight and earn a bid to the NCAAs!

I didn't say anything, I was just quoting a press release.
