UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU men's soccer coach Schellas Hyndman has turned down the opportunity to become Dallas Burn coach.

The Burn offered Hyndman a two-year contract, but Hyndman said he was looking for more security. Hyndman told Burn officials Monday he wouldn't take the position.

"It was a situation where we couldn't agree [on terms]," Hyndman said. "The situation is I'm very happy here at SMU. I've got great friends here. I was looking for the security like I have here. In the pro game, you get hired to be fired."

Hyndman, whose team will play Santa Clara on Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament, told his team of his decision after practice Tuesday morning.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Fantastic...really great news. We love you coach. Don't ever leave us.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Fantastic news. I don't know if this was a distraction to the team at all, but if so, that distraction is gone. Terrific news. Maybe a rallying point as the Ponies go in to the NCAAs!

I thought it was interesting to read the players' comments in the PF.com feature on the home page. (How come the DMN didn't talk to players? Isn't their reaction kind of important?) They sound like they've maintained a pretty even keel throughout this....
"What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"
