Seifert Announces Two Standouts In Signing Class

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU volleyball head coach Lisa Seifert announced the signings of Jamison Wheeler and Kaitlyn Knobbe to NLIs. The duo will join the program for the 2021 season next fall.

Wheeler, an outside hitter, is a three-year letterwinner for coach Brandace Boren at Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. During her career, she has scored more than 1,000 kills, and was named the 2019 district MVP. She eared all-district awards in 2018 and 2019 after leading her team to district championships. Wheeler played club volleyball at Austin Skyline, and was named to the Prep Volleyball Watch List.

Knobbe is a four-year letterwinner for coach Andrew Werhli at Duchesne Academy in Omaha, Neb. She earned Academic All-State accolades each of her four seasons, and set records as a middle blocker in multiple seasons. As a senior, Knobbe was named first-team all-conference. She led her team to the state semifinals in 2018 and a runner-up finish in the state championship in 2019. Werhli also coached her at Elite 181's on the club circuit.

"These are two talented young ladies who will make a tremendous impact on our program," Seifert explained. "The are standouts both on the court and in the classroom, and fit our culture well. I expect great things for both of them."
