Stambo Named Conference Diver Of The Week
IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Mustang Nicole Stambo earned the first American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week honors of the season, league officials announced Tuesday.
Stambo has won five of six diving events this season for the Mustangs, sweeping competition against TCU and Drury. She also has NCAA Zone qualifying scores on both 1 and 3 meter.
In the season opener against TCU, she posted her first NCAA Zone qualifying score of 2020 on 1 meter, with a six-round 279.30.
In the three-day meet against Drury, Stambo helped the Mustangs to a sweep of night one events with a personal-best, 294.08 on 1 meter. On night two, the sophomore won 3 meter with a six-round 311.55 for her first 3 meter Zones score of the season. Her 311.78 in prelims set another career mark.
In the 1 meter win at North Texas, Stambo improved on her personal best score with a 300.97.
The Mustangs return to the pool after the new year with back-to-back meets against American Athletic Conference foe Houston on Jan. 8 and Rice on Jan. 9 at The Nat.
