Stambo Named AAC Diver Of The Week
IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Mustang diver Nicole Stambo was named the American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week for her career performance at No. 1 Texas last week.
This is the second weekly honor for the sophomore this season (Dec. 15), making her the only diver in the league to earn multiple honors this season. Along with Stambo, Taylor Ohlhauser was honored on Jan. 26, giving the Mustangs three total diving awards in 2020-21. No other team had more than one.
Stambo led SMU with a third-place finish on 3 meter, recording a personal-best 324.15, which also exceeds the NCAA B qualifying score. On 1 meter, she was fifth, staying above the NCAA Zone score at 274.05.
Stambo is one of three Mustang divers qualified for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships March 11-13 at the University of Kentucky.
The Mustangs are back in action Feb. 18-20 at the American Athletic Conference Championships at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. The event is closed to the public but will stream live on ESPN+.
