Two From Women's Golf Tied For 11th After First Day In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – SMU has two members of its women's golf team tied for 11th after the first day of the Rebel Beach Intercollegiate at Spanish Trail Country Club. Nicole Vivier and Kennedy Pedigo were both +2 for the tournament when play was suspended in the second round.

Pedigo was working on a 3-under second round through 14 holes when the horn blew Monday, and is leading the tournament by playing the par-4s on the par 72 / 6,400-yard track at -5. Pedigo had eight birdies in 32 holes Monday, including two in her opening-round 77.

Viver, who tied for 11th two weeks ago in her collegiate debut at the Trinity Forest Invitational, had the Mustangs' top round in the morning, signing for a 2-over 72. She was even par through 14 holes in her second trip around Spanish Trail. Vivier is still bogey-free on par-3s through four-plus rounds in her career, playing the short holes at a combined -8.

As a team, SMU is in ninth place at +19, but was only +1 in the second round, on track for the fourth-best round of the tournament. New Mexico leads the tournament at +5.

Megan Chou is tied for 45th at +7, after posting an opening-round 76. She made five birdies on Monday.

Ashley Chow is +1 through 14 in the second round and is tied for 56th at +9. Lauren Chappell is tied for 62nd at +11.

Playing as an individual, Serena Shah is tied for 58th at +10. After an opening-round 82, she is even par through 17 holes in the second round.

The tournament resumes at 10 a.m. CT Tuesday with a shotgun start to complete the final few holes of the second round, then continue into the third and final round with continuous play. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.
