Mustangs Complete Second Sweep Over Tulsa On Saturday

DALLAS - SMU swept Tulsa for the second consecutive day (25-15, 25-13, 25-14). The Mustangs (8-4, 4-4 AAC) put together a second victory against the Golden Hurricane (2-6, 2-6 AAC) after Hannah Jacobs had another solid offensive day. Jacobs notched 13 kills today and finished with 32 in the series vs Tulsa. SMU limited the Golden Hurricane attack all match long as Tulsa ended with a .009 hitting percentage.

Jadyn Bauss grabbed her 10th double-double on the season after 10 kills and 17 digs today. Kaylyn Winkler matched her career-high seven blocks as SMU finished with 11 total blocks on Saturday. Rachel Woulfe added 11 kills, while Bria' Merchant came away with 15 digs for the Mustangs.

SMU stormed out to a 16-4 lead to begin the match. The Mustangs took this momentum and won the opening set by 10 points. SMU held the Golden Hurricane to a -0.57 hitting percentage and accumulated 17 kills, including five from Woulfe to grab the lead. The Mustangs kept it rolling in the second set, taking a 12-4 advantage and never let up. Jacobs led SMU in this set with eight kills on 11 total attacks.

With a 2-0 lead for the second day in a row, SMU fell behind 1-4 to begin the third set. A 9-0 Mustangs’ run gave SMU back the lead. Tulsa cut the lead down to four (14-10), but SMU once again rallied and put together another scoring run to push SMU out to a 20-10 lead. The Mustangs finished the match strong to take the victory.

SMU will host its final home series of the season against Texas Tech on Friday, March 19 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.
