Rowing sweeps Louisville, holds tight with No. 3 Michigan

SMU Sweeps Louisville ; Holds Tight With No. 3 Michigan On Sunday

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - SMU completed the second day of the Cardinal Invitational against No. 3 Michigan and (RV) Louisville on Sunday. The Mustangs held tight with Michigan and swept Louisville in all races. The 20th ranked Mustangs finished the invitational with three sweeps over No. 12 Wisconsin, (RV) Notre Dame, and (RV) Louisville.

In the first race of the day, SMU posted a time of 6:24.9 in the V8. The Mustangs held tight with Michigan the whole race, only finishing two seconds behind the Wolverines. SMU also beat out host Louisville by 22 seconds.

SMU beat Louisville in the V4a competition by 13 seconds. The 2V8 race was next and SMU trailed first place by just two seconds, but secured the second spot in the three-team race by 18 seconds. SMU and Louisville were the only two boats in the V4b. The Mustangs took the race at the 7:25.6 mark ahead of the Cardinals by 30 seconds.

SMU will compete at the Sunshine State Invitational hosted by UCF April 2-3 in Sarasota, Florida.
