Woods Breaks SMU 400 Hurdles Record For Third Time

AUSTIN, Texas / SAN MARCOS, Texas (SMU) – For the third time in eight days, Ashton Woods broke the program record in the 400m hurdles as the Mustangs wrapped up competition at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invite.

Across the three days of competition, the Mustangs posted four program top-10s, 11 personal bests and six season's best.

Woods previously set the program record last Saturday in the 400 hurdles (59.45) then topped the mark in qualifying on Thursday (59.04) before shattering it with a time of 58.31 in the final day of the Texas Relays.

Also in Saturday action from Austin, Madison Savoy posted a season's best time in the 800m with a 2:15.64 showing, good for 27th.

At the Bobcat Invite, Jordanae Scott improved on her personal best with a time of 24.35 in the 200m, eighth best at SMU and good for a third-place finish at the meet. Also in the 200m, Annette Bolomboy came in 10th with a 24.84 and Chelsea Francis posted a season's best of 24.85. Whitney Williams recorded a personal best thanks to a 25.10 time. Olivia Mars posted 26.62 personal best while Brooke Shepherd ran a 27.06 and Olivia Witt ran a 30.30

Cassie Ackemann cleared 1.65m in the high jump to finish in third and Olivia Dobson cleared 1.60m, a personal best.

Atipa Mabonga registered her best triple jump of the season with a 12.24m mark, good for third. Olivia Witt threw for a personal best in the shot put behind a distance 10.57. In the 800m, Mackenzie Montandon topped her season's best with a time of 2:29.30

Jernaya Sharp won the 100 hurdles in San Marcos with a time of 13.79, 0.28 faster than the next closest.

The Mustangs have the next weekend off from competition before heading to Denton on April 10 to take on the North Texas Classic.

Too bad we are off next weekend so she has to wait a couple of weeks to break the record again.
