Seven Mustangs Named NCEA Ariat All-Americans

WACO, Texas (SMU) – SMU adds to its postseason honors with a program-record seven riders selected to 2021 NCEA Ariat All-America teams, the organization announced on Thursday.

Three Mustangs were named to All-America First Teams with Devin Seek being selected for Fences, Nya Kearns for Horsemanship and Dani Latimer for Reining. Seek has an overall 8-1 record this season and has earned three MOP honors. In addition to her conference accolades, she joins four Mustang alumnae to earn First Team All-America honors in Fences. Kearns adds to her numerous conference honors and is the first SMU rider to be named to the All-America First Team for Horsemanship. She has gone undefeated with an 8-0 record and four MOPs this season. Latimer earns her second consecutive All-America honor after being named to the Second Team in 2020. She has earned three MOPs this season and has a 5-2-1 record.

Taylor Madden was named a Second Team All-American for Flat after earning two MOPs and a 7-1 record this season. This honor joins the freshman's conference Rider of the Year honor and is the second First Team accolade in Flat for the Mustangs.

SMU had three named as All-America Honorable Mentions: Olivia Woodson in Fences and both Mallory Vroegh and Megan Waldron in Horsemanship. Woodson earns her first career All-America honor after earning an MOP this season with a 7-1 record while also riding in Flat and serving as the Jumping Seat captain for the Mustangs. Vroegh gets her first All-America nod as well with a 6-2 record and three MOPs while helping the Horsemanship team to a 7-1 overall record this season. This year's accolade is Waldron's second consecutive All-America honor after being named to the Second Team in 2020. She has earned one MOP this season and holds a 6-2 record.
