Women's Tennis Adds Lana Mavor As Transfer

SMU women's tennis head coach Jeff Nevolo announced the addition of transfer Lana Mavor to the 2021-22 roster on Friday.

"We are so excited to welcome Lana to the Hilltop," said head coach Jeff Nevolo. "She's a great tennis player with a lot of upside and we believe she has the tools to become a highly ranked college tennis player. Her experience on the final four NC State team from this past season will help move us closer to our program's goal of competing on the biggest of national stages. Most importantly, she's going to be a great teammate and student. Coach Brigit and I can't wait to get work with her this fall."

Mavor played two seasons for the highly-ranked NC State Wolfpack women's tennis program. The former five-star recruit played primarily on line six singles and number three doubles racking up 16 singles victories and 19 wins on the doubles court in her two seasons. Mavor and the Wolfpack advanced to the national semifinals this season. Mavor posted a ranked singles victory in her first collegiate match.

The daughter of two collegiate tennis players, Mavor was ranked number one in the state coming out of high school with numerous accolades across her junior career. Mavor earned two bronze balls in 2018 competing in doubles at the USTA Winter Nationals and in the Easter Bowl. She placed second at the 2018 USTA Spring Team Championships and was a finalist at the Level 3 Sectional Championship held at Yale University.

Mavor joins a Mustang squad coming off their best season in over a decade. The team notched 21 victories and finished the season in the top-50 and fifth-ranked in the region.
