Arcila Wins 50 Free Heat; Concludes Action At Tokyo Olympics

TOKYO (SMU) – Former Mustang All-American Isabella Arcila (2012-15) won her heat in the 50-meter freestyle at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Friday evening.

Arcila, competing for Colombia in her second Games, covered the distance in 25.41 to take heat seven and finish 27th overall in a field of 81. It was a three-spot improvement from her finish in Rio.

She also competed in the 100-meter backstroke and finished 32nd in prelims at 1:02.28.

Arcila is the 50 free record holder at SMU and is also part of program records in the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays. She is a seven-time All-American and 17-time conference champion. Overall, she collected 24 all-conference honors during her time on the Hilltop.

She was twice named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Year and earned CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades.
