Balata Named To AAC All-Preseason Team; SMU Picked To Finish Third

IRVING, Texas (AAC/SMU) – Wayny Balata was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team, league officials announced Tuesday.
The junior midfielder has three career goals, scoring two in 18 games as a freshman and one in two games last season. The Montreal native also tallied two assists during her only full campaign on the Hilltop.
In addition to announcing the preseason awards, the conference also released its 2021 Preseason Coaches Poll, with SMU picked to finish third. The Mustangs received 44 points in the poll, behind first-place USF (62 points) and second-place Memphis (59 points). USF received six of nine first-place votes, with Memphis garnering the remaining three.
