Sutherland Earns Third Straight Goalkeeper Of The Week Award

IRVING, Texas (SMU/AAC) – Tatum Sutherland is the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the third consecutive week, league officials announced Monday.

The redshirt-sophomore made eight saves against ECU, and SMU won its league opener 2-0. The victory was the first against the Pirates in Greenville, N.C., since 2005. Sutherland has 32 saves this season without allowing a goal. She has played in each of the last five matches, starting four and playing 90 minutes in three.

Lindsey Whitmore was named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a goal and recording an assist at ECU. She now has two goals and two assists this season.

No. 17 SMU is 7-1, winning six straight with shutouts in the last five. The shutout streak is tied for second all-time and the longest since five straight in 2017. The win streak is the longest since SMU won 11 consecutive matches in 2006.

The Mustangs play their next two matches at home, starting Thursday against UCF at 7 p.m.
