Pinho Earns AAC Rookie Of The Week, Costa Named To Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas (AAC/SMU) - Two Mustangs were highlighted in this week's American Athletic Conference weekly honors, the organization announced on Monday. Freshman defender Kyran Pinho was named the week's Rookie of the Week while senior midfielder Gabriel Costa was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Pinho claimed his second Rookie of the Week nod of the season after playing a key role on SMU's backline during the 1-1-0 week. He notched one shot on goal in 33 minutes of action during the back and forth collision with No. 7 Tulsa on Wednesday, Sept. 29. The freshman then played 70 minutes with two shot attempts on goal as he helped hold Temple to one shot on goal in a 1-0 shutout on Sunday, Oct. 3.

Costa earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season. Over the week's contests, the senior totaled three points for SMU as he served the primary assist on the lone Mustang goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to No. 7 Tulsa then scored the match-winner in the 67th minute on Sunday to defeat Temple 1-0.

The Mustangs are back on the road on Saturday, Oct. 9 to play Memphis, with action starting at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
