Elisabeth Tse Named AAC Defensive Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas (SMU/AAC) – Elisabeth Tse was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal in a 1-1 draw against UCF.

It was the second goal of the season for Tse. On the defensive end, Tse helped keep the Knights from scoring until the 81st minute, ending SMU's shutout stretch at 552:08. The scoreless streak is the second longest in program history, 614:50 in 2000, and includes five shutouts.

Tse becomes the fourth SMU player to earn a weekly award and the second to be awarded the defensive honor. SMU has had at least one player recognized by the league in each of the last four weeks.

The Mustangs are 7-1-1 this season with a 1-0-1 record in The American conference matches. SMU is unbeaten in its last seven matches since an overtime loss at Baylor and currently ranked No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.

SMU hosts Houston Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium on ESPN+.
