TAMPA, Fla. (SMU) - RV SMU used four different scorers, including two defenders, to defeat USF by a final score of 4-0 on Friday night at Corbett Stadium.

After what started as an evenly contested match, the Mustangs (7-3-2, 4-3-0 AAC) outshot the Bulls (4-7-1, 2-5-0 AAC) by a difference of 16-10 and dominated in shots on goal, 10-2.

Senior Roman Knox broke the scoreless tie in the 24th minute as he scored the eventual game-winner after connecting with the ball near the top of the box and driving it past the Bulls' keeper into the bottom left-hand corner of the frame. The goal gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

SMU came out of the break with energy that led to three additional goals over the next 45 minutes. In the 60th, freshman Kyran Chambron Pinho scored his first collegiate goal after meeting a pass from Knut Ahlander then driving a shot off his left foot into the goal, giving the Red and Blue and 2-0 advantage.

Two more goals found the back of the net for the Mustangs when Harvey Castro and Brandon Terwege both tallied their second goals of the season during the 66th and 79th minutes, respectively. Ahlander earned a second assist on the night as he set up Castro, who settled a keeper rebound before putting the ball away. Castro then helped Terwege add some insurance as he sent a corner kick to the mouth of the goal and Terwege headed the ball, making it a 4-0 contest.

Cole Johnson finished the night in goal with two saves to earn his fourth shutout of the 2021 campaign.

Friday's win marked SMU's second over USF this season as the Mustangs kept the Bulls off the board during both matchups. The good guys won the first, 2-0, in Dallas back in September.

The Mustangs are back at home on Wednesday, Oct. 27 for their next contest against No. 11 Tulsa. Action at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CT start and will be shown on ESPN+.
