Mustangs Sweep American Swimming And Diving Honors

IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – For the second time this season, the SMU men's and women's swimming and diving programs have swept American Athletic Conference weekly awards, league officials announced Tuesday.

The Mustangs have now claimed nine of ten possible honors this season, with eight different student-athletes picking up accolades.

Jack Easton earned his first career conference honor after posting a school record in the 200-yard individual medley and three more times on SMU's all-time top performer list.

Along with Easton's performance in the 200 IM, which was an NCAA B cut, pool and meet record as well, he also posted cuts in the 100 back (1st), 200 back (1st) and 100 fly (2nd).

Tyler Coffey also earned his first career nod after winning 3 meter and placing second on platform at the SMU Invite. His score on 3 meter reached the NCAA Zone qualifying mark, while his platform performance was a career best.

Ilektra Lebl is another first-time honoree for the Mustangs after she won the 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley at the Invite. Both times came in under the NCAA B standard and place her on SMU's all-time top 10 list, while the 500 free time was a meet record.

Nicole Stambo picked up her third career honor, and first of the season, after a pair of wins over the weekend. Stambo won 1 meter and platform posting career bests, NCAA Zone scores and adding a meet record on 1 meter.

Both teams finished atop the team leaderboard at the event.
