Mustangs Sweep Third Straight AAC Weekly Awards
IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – The SMU women's swimming and diving team swept American Athletic Conference weekly awards for the third straight time this season as Ilektra Lebl was named the swimmer of the week and Nicole Stambo diver of the week. The duo also swept the last awards on Nov. 23, and the Mustangs have now claimed seven of eight conference accolades in 2021-22.

Lebl won four events in a 2-0 weekend for the Mustangs, who came away with victories over North Texas and Tulane. Against the Mean Green, she won the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.07) and finished first the 1,650 freestyle (16:54.22) by nearly 20 seconds. In The American match-up vs. Tulane, Lebl won the 500 freestyle (5:03.44) and 400 IM (4:25.68).

Stambo finished in the top two of all four events over the weekend, winning 1 meter (307.20) against UNT and 3 meter (284.85) against Tulane. In all she stayed above the NCAA Zone qualification score in three of the four events.

The Mustangs are 5-1 this season in dual meets this season and are back in action Friday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. against No. 24 Texas A&M in College Station. The meet will stream live on the SEC Network +.
