From SMUMustangs.com:

DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 49 SMU women's tennis team made quick work of No. 56 VCU in a 4-0 victory on Sunday, earning the Mustangs' third consecutive win.

SMU (10-6) earned the shutout off their eleventh doubles point of the dual season, followed by straight-set singles wins on lines two, three, and six to secure the sweep.

"We have been working on a lot of things in practice that we were able to implement in some really big moments out here today," said head coach Jeff Nevolo. "So (today's win) is a good step in the right direction for us."

The court two duo of Lexi Keberle/Lana Mavor improved to 5-3 in dual doubles with a 6-3 win over VCU's 48th-ranked Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado / Laura Garcia Astudillo, earning a quick one-match advantage for SMU in doubles play.

On line one, Hadley Doyle/Jackie Nylander rallied from behind 5-2, winning four-straight games to earn a 7-5, doubles-clinching win against VCU's Gabriela Davidescu/Shivani Manjanna. Doyle/Nylander have won four of their last five completed doubles matchups as a pair, improving to 4-1 through dual play.

In singles, Doyle raced to a 6-2, 6-0 straight-set win over VCU's Yelizaveta Karlova, pushing the Mustangs' lead to 2-0. The reigning AAC Player of the Week has won two of her last three singles contests on court two for SMU.

Jackie Nylander won her third consecutive singles contest, downing VCU's Nina Sorkin 6-2, 6-4. The junior led as far as 5-2 in her second set before Sorkin won two straight to force a decisive 5-4 game. Nylander answered, defeating Sorkin 6-4.

With the Mustangs up 3-0 and threatening a shutout, graduate senior Nicole Petchey took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Manjanna to seal a 4-0 victory for SMU. The win marks Petchey's third consecutive, improving her dual singles record to 7-5.

Mavor opened singles on court five with a 6-4 win in the opening set against Anja Drascovic and led 4-2 in the second, before SMU clinched the team win.

Claudia Bartolome, after falling 7-5 in the first set, led 5-2 before the match was called. Bartolome was seeking her third win in four matches.

Keberle split sets 6-1, 6-4 in her contest on line one against Exposito Diaz-Delgado at the time the match was called. Keberle, with a 10-3 record, entered Sunday's contest seeking her seventh consecutive win.

Nevolo continues to praise the team's mental endurance, and how that has played a part in the Mustangs' most recent string of wins:

"We had a few tough matches early in the season, (but) I keep waiting for them to have a bad practice, and we just haven't done that yet," Nevolo said. "It shows a lot of intentionality from them on a day-to-day basis."

SMU continues dual competition on Wednesday in Lubbock in a spring rematch against Texas Tech.
