Mustangs Announce 2022-23 Additions

DALLAS (SMU) – Head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh has announced the addition of eight student-athletes to the men's swimming and diving program for the 2022-23 season.

The Mustangs are coming off back-to-back conference championships after winning their second straight American Athletic Conference title last season in dominating fashion, sweeping the conference specialty awards.

In addition to the conference title, SMU saw five of its athletes compete at the NCAA championships. Over the course of the season, six individual school records were broken in addition to two relays.

The class includes eight incoming freshmen.

Prep: Junior Nationals qualifier and YMCA Nationals finalist. All-State, All-American, Catholic League champion.

Thanks for sharing. We are starting to draw talented recruits, who will build our depth and get faster under Coach Greg. As a backstroker, there are two of them, who are great additions in this list, plus a good distance freestyler.

Very mediocre group unfortunately. It does not move the team forward much unless there is a lot of upside in those guys - which there may be. Sage can be very good. Hopefully several more can be as well. The distance swimmer did those times in his junior year in HS. He has not been very good since - not sure why. Hopefully he will thrive at SMU.
What IS very good is that Greg has a good group training with him this summer that will go to Summer Nationals in a couple of weeks. Hopefully some of those guys can show good improvement and qualify for finals.
