Women’s Tennis Earns Three Wild Card Bids to RBC Dallas Summer Series

DALLAS (SMU) – Three members of the SMU women's tennis team have been awarded wild card slots to compete in the RBC Dallas Summer Tennis Series W25 bracket, held at SMU's own Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex July 25-31.

In singles play, senior Hadley Doyle enters the tournament as a wild card in the main draw, with sophomore Drew Morris earning a qualifying bid. Doyle, along with senior Lana Mavor, will compete in the main doubles draw.

"RBC Wealth Management is thrilled to continue our commitment to tennis at all levels throughout Texas by sponsoring the RBC Dallas Summer Tennis Series!" said Andy Teller, senior managing director at RBC Wealth Management.

"As an organization, our support of tennis allows us to give back to the communities where we work, live, and love. I hope everyone will come out and cheer on their favorite SMU tennis players as well as the rising stars from around the globe."

Doyle closed her 2022 dual season with a 10-7 record, ending the year on four consecutive wins against opponents of ITA ranked teams (No. 19 UCF, No. 55 Rice, No. 56 Memphis, No. 50 Tulsa), with her final three victories each being earned in straight sets. In doubles, Doyle and partners Jackie Nylander and Nicole Petchey went a combined 14-10 in dual play. Doyle/Nylander ranked as high as 33rd nationally in the ITA doubles rankings.

Mavor, alongside graduate senior Lexi Keberle on line two throughout the spring dual season, claimed a team-best 11-3 record against doubles opponents. The pair compiled a seven-match win streak to close the year, which included wins against two ITA top-25 teams (No. 19 UCF, No. 25 Kansas) and two victories against Cincinnati and Tulsa in the American Athletic Conference Tournament.

Morris, in her freshman season on the Hilltop, claimed four dual wins – against Abilene Christian, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, and No. 56 Memphis – all in straight sets.

"We are incredibly excited to host this event at the world class Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex," Mustang head coach Jeff Nevolo said. "The support from RBC is providing our student-athletes with a tremendous opportunity to test themselves against a very high level of competition. We are grateful for their continued support of our tennis programs!"

Admission to all matches in the event at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex are free of charge.
