Woulfe Named to AAC All-Preseason Team; Mustangs Picked Fifth in Coaches Poll

IRVING, Texas (AAC/SMU) – Senior outside hitter Rachel Woulfe of the SMU women's volleyball team was named to the American Athletic Conference all-preseason team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Woulfe, a unanimous selection on the 2022 preseason ballot, was a consensus first-team All-AAC selection at the end of 2021. The three-time AAC Weekly Honor Roll member led the Mustangs with a 3.06 kills-per-set clip, while finishing second on the team with 333 kills. Woulfe hit .298 and gathered 88 total blocks, while posting five solo blocks on the season. Woulfe closed 2021 ranked eighth in the league in kills-per-set (3.18) and points-per-set (3.83).

The Mustangs closed their 2021 season with an 18-12 record, including a 14-6 mark against AAC opponents. SMU led the American in kills-per-set (13.67), and posted top-three figures in assists-per-set (12.32), hitting percentage (.236), blocks-per-set (2.14), and team attacks per-set (36.94).

SMU was selected to finish in fifth place in this season's AAC Preseason Coaches Poll. UCF received 10 first-place votes, along with Wichita State who earned one.

The Mustangs open their 2022 season on Friday at noon, hosting UC Irvine in the SMU Doubletree Invitational at Moody Coliseum.
