Westergren and Kaarsgaren Earn Spots On AAC Weekly Honor Roll
IRVING, TEXAS (SMU)- Mads Westergren and Bram Kaarsgaren were named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
Both Mustangs played a large role in the team's back-to-back AAC wins that propelled the Mustangs into first place in the league. SMU allowed only one goal in two matches, earning the team's fifth clean sheet of the season Sunday.
Mads Westergren anchored the SMU defense in its pair of wins. Additionally, Westergren broke the 1-1 tie at UCF Wednesday, firing a perfectly placed shot in the top left corner of the goal to put the Mustangs on top and earn his second score of the year.
Bram Kaarsgaren is selected to the Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week. The graduate keeper was in goal for both wins, tallying six total saves and recording a shutout. In Wednesday's 2-1 victory over UCF, Kaarsgaren earned three saves on 13 shots faced. Kaarsgaren recorded three additional saves against UAB on nine shots faced in the Mustangs fifth clean sheet of the year.
