Sebazco Is AAC Midfielder Of The Year, Four Mustangs Earn Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas (SMU/The American) – Senior Courtney Sebazco was named American Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year, the league announced on Wednesday. Jewel Boland and Julissa Cisneros also earned All-AAC Second-Team honors and Peyton Annen was selected to the AAC All-Rookie Team.

Sebazco, the senior captain, is Midfielder of the Year for the first time and All-AAC for the third time in her career. She was preseason All-AAC and a member of the Hermann Trophy Watch List. Sebazco has four goals, including two game winners, with three assists.

Cisneros leads SMU and is second in The American with eight goals this season, including three game-winning goals. The senior scored the game winner with 15 seconds left against Memphis on senior night. Boland, also a senior forward, has three goals on the season including the tying goal against Memphis on senior night. She is second in the AAC with 2.8 shots per game.

Annen, a freshman defender, was one of just two unanimous selections to the All-Rookie Team. She has started 13 of the 14 games played this season and has one goal. The SMU defense has allowed zero or one goal in 15 of 17 matches this season.

SMU (9-3-5) faces USF (8-8) in an American Athletic Conference Championship semifinal in Orlando on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.
