No. 2 seed SMU men's soccer team is set for its American Athletic Conference Semifinal match against No. 3 USF Thursday at 3 p.m. CST in Miami, Florida.

SERIES HISTORY
SMU holds a 8-4-4 record all-time against USF.
SMU defeated USF 3-1 in the regular season.
The Mustangs defeated the Bulls twice last season.
SMU hasn't lost to South Florida since 2017, and enters Thursday's match winning the last seven meetings dating back to 2019.

KNOW THE FOE
USF is 7-5-4 on the year and 5-1-3 in AAC play.
The Bulls enter Thursday's match on a four match winning streak.
USF entered the AAC Tournament as the three seed and defeated sixth-seeded Charlotte in the quarterfinal.

UP TO THIS POINT
The No. 13 Mustangs are 10-4-1 and enter the AAC Tournament after taking down then-No. 12 Tulsa 3-2 in the final regular season match of the season.
SMU is the second seed in the AAC Tournament.
The Mustangs are ranked ninth in the NCAA RPI.
SMU checked in at No 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll
The Mustangs rank top 10 in the country in points per game, scoring offense and total goals.
The Mustangs closed out the regular season winning two of its last four. Most recently, SMU defeated then-No. 12 Tulsa 3-2.
In September SMU went on a four game winning streak after taking down FIU, Temple, UCF and UAB.
SMU started off the year taking down Oral Roberts 4-0, followed by a setback at Stanford. The Mustangs bounced back by rattling off three straight victories, including two clean sheets against UCA and Saint Louis and an offensive explosion in a 7-2 win over UTRGV. The Mustangs battled then-No. 23 UNCG to a 0-0 draw to close out non-conference play. SMU opened conference play with a 1-0 setback at Memphis.

LAST TIME OUT
Knut Ahlander's multigoal performance lifted SMU to a 3-2 win over Tulsa on senior night.
The Mustangs finish their 2022 regular season home slate undefeated, holding an 8-1-0 clip at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
Knut Ahlander struck first in the 17th minute for the Mustangs off a penalty kick opportunity, capitalizing in the middle of the net.
Alex Meinhard scored the equalizer for Tulsa in the 19th minute.
In the 37th minute, Fredrik Skilbergg found Kyran Chambron Pinho in transition, who dished to Knut Ahlander for the finish. Ahlander earned his 12th goal of the season and the fourth multigoal performance of the year.
SMU's assist leader Alexander Petraeus delivered a pass in the middle of the box to Fredrik Skilberg who scored on the right side of the net with a diving finish in the 40th minute. Skilberg earned his seventh score of the season and Petraeus tallied his ninth assist of the year.
Tulsa scored on a penalty kick opportunity out of halftime to pull the match within a goal.

CAREER YEAR FOR ORTIZ
Jose Ortiz is having a career season for the Mustangs. The junior from Arlington, Texas, has three multigoal performances on the season.
Ortiz propelled the Mustangs to a 4-0 victory after scoring a career and team-high three goals in the season opener. Following the hat track, Ortiz has tallied two more multigoal outings against UTRGV and FIU this season.

HEARTBEAT OF THE MUSTANGS
SMU Midfielder Knut Ahlander is putting together an impressive season. Ahlander was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Year and the conference's Midfielder of the Year.
Ahlander finished the regular season first in the AAC in total points (28), points per game (1.87) and total goals (12).
Ahlander's points per game rank second in the nation and the graduate student sits at third in the country in goals per game.
Ahlander has four multigoal performances on the season and has tallied a pair of assists.
Ahlander has climbed to No. 5 in program history in total assits (28).

MUSTANGS IN THE RANKINGS
The Mustangs checked in at No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches top 25.
SMU is ranked No. 9 in the NCAA RPI.

DEFENDING THE GOAL
SMU's Goal Keepers have produced at a high level this season.
Bram Kaarsgaren enters Thursday's match after with 27 saves and six wins on the year.
Cole Johnson has 21 saves in seven starts, including three clean sheets this season.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
SMU's underclassman have played a large role in the Mustangs season success.
Alexander Petraeus leads the team in assists with nine on the year. Petraeus leads the conference in total and assists per game.
Petraeus has added three goals in 2022.
Fredrik Skilberg has seven goals on the year, including a hat trick against Temple.
Nikola Djordjevic is second on the team and in the conference in assists with seven, and added his first goal of the year against Charlotte.
Freshman Elton Hedstrom has added two goals this season.
Mads Westergren has put together an impressive season. The sophomore has landed on the AAC honor roll twice. Westergren anchors SMU's back line and has added a pair of goals this season.
JP Jordan has provided consistent porduction for the Mustangs. The sophomore has been one of the best ball-recovering midfielders in the nation.

SMU's roster includes four seniors and two graduate students. SMU's seniors include Knut Ahlander, Roman Knox, Judson Burns, Eben Noverr, Bram Kaarsgaren and Henry Howell.

TDS MIDSEASON TOP 100
Six total Mustangs were named to the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100 list.
The rankings include the highest-ranked college soccer players in the nation and will be updated weekly.
Knut Ahlander landed at No. 15 while Mads Westergren checked in at No. 82 and JP Jordan earned the 90th spot.
On the freshman top 100, Alexander Petraeus checked in at No. 11 while Owen Zarnick landed at 26 and Fredrik Skilberg earned the 62nd spot.
