DALLAS (SMU)- SMU's top-ranked equestrian team closed out its fall slate undefeated with a 14-6 win over No. 9 UC Davis Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Equestrian Center.

The win marked the Mustangs third victory over a ranked opponent this season and the second win of the weekend after defeating Delaware State 19-1 Friday.

"This fall season has been a collective effort from this entire team," head coach Carol Gwin said. "As I continue to say, this is a special season and I'm really pleased with the results after the fall. As always, we have some things to improve and details to tweak but I'm very happy with coming out of the fall season undefeated. I'll give credit where credit is due, Coach Kearns and Coach Persons have recruited and developed a fantastic group."

SMU took two Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) awards. Devin Seek earned the honor in Fences and Megan Waldron claimed the accolade in Horsemanship.

The meet started with Horsemanship and Fences coinciding. SMU won both events 4-1.

Elli Yeager put up the first point of the day in a dominating 86-77 victory to remain undefeated on the season. Augusta Iwasaki completed her unbeaten weekend with an 83-78 victory and fellow freshman Hannah Hoch won her first point as a Mustang over Sierra Gundersen 82-81.

Devin Seek took down Keely Laughlin by a convincing 87-80 margin to earn an SMU point.

In Horsemanship, Alexa Black defeated Maddie Gregory 78.5-77. After dropping the next point, the Mustangs rattled off three straight wins starting with Megan Waldron's dominant 79-0 victory.

Lily Anderson won her point 76-74.5 and Nya Kearns finished off the event with a 74.5-70.5 victory.

The Mustangs entered the second half of the meet holding an 8-2 advantage. Reining and Flat occurred simultaneously. SMU dominated Reining 4-1 and dropped Flat narrowly, 3-2.

SMU picked up where it left off after yesterday's Reining sweep. Lily Anderson won the first point of the event 73.5-71. Taylor Zimmerman outscored Aggie Lauren Langbaum 73.5-72.

Maria Richards took down Emma Dillon 75-72 and Chalyce Head picked up a convincing 76-73.5 victory.
