Stambo Named AAC Diver Of The Week
IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Senior Nicole Stambo earned the American Athletic Conference's Diver of the Week honor after her performance at the SMU Invitational, league officials announced Tuesday.
Stambo produced NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores on all three events at the Invite, never finishing out of the top two. All three scores were season bests.
After qualifying as the second seed heading into event finals on 3 meter, Stambo turned in a 305.45 finals performance to win the eight-diver final.
On 1 meter, Stambo climbed four spots out of qualifying to finish second at 301.00, while platform saw her gain two spots, finishing as the runner-up with 248.20 in finals.
This is the fifth career AAC honor for Stambo, who is also the reigning AAC Diver of the Year. She also boasts 11-career NCAA Zone scores.
Stambo is the second Mustang to be honored by the league this season, with Jenna Watson winning AAC Swimmer of the Week accolades on Oct. 11.
The Mustangs are back in action Dec. 2 when they host TCU at 5 p.m.
