Knut Ahlander Named First-Team All-America

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU) – Knut Ahlander was named a First Team All-American, United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday.

Ahlander is the 45th Mustang to earn All-America honors.

Ahlander adds the postseason award to his impressive list of accolades. Ahlander was named a First Team All-East Region selection after receiving a spot on the 2019 Third Team. Ahlander concluded his graduate season leading the team and American Athletic Conference in total goals for the year with 12 and finished the regular season as the conference's leader in total points, points per game and total goals. The midfielder posted four multigoal performances this season. Ahlander's five assists moved him to fifth in program history in total assists.

Ahlander was named a Semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer. Additionally, he was named the AAC Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Year. The graduate student was selected to the All-AAC First Team for the third straight season. Ahlander received an invitation to the 2022 MLS College Showcase.

This year's All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
