Stambo Earns Third Straight AAC Weekly Award
IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Nicole Stambo earned American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week honors for her performances at the Georgia Diving Invite and in a triple dual against Rice, Tulane and UNT, league officials announced Tuesday.
Stambo has taken home the last three conference Diver of the Week awards, earning accolades on Dec. 6 and Nov. 22.
In Athens, Stambo qualified for a pair of event finals, finishing fourth on platform and sixth on 1 meter, continuing to meet the NCAA Zone standard on both.
The triple dual with AAC competition that featured divers from UNT saw Stambo earn the sweep after taking first on 1 meter and platform. Her 250.50 platform performance was a season best, while her 297.30 on 1 meter also hit the NCAA mark.
For her career, the senior now has seven AAC Diver of the Week honors. She is a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-America selection and was the league's 2022 Most Outstanding Diver.
Stambo and the Mustangs are back in action against No. 15 Texas A&M for Senior Day, Jan. 27 at 2:45 p.m.
