Men's swimming and diving falls to No. 10 Texas A&M

SMU Falls To No. 10 Texas A&M

Dallas, Texas – The SMU men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 10 Texas A&M 172-108 in Friday's senior day meet at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

SMU started out strong, claiming first place in the 200 medley relay. Cole Bruns, Lance Butler, Riley Hill and Justin Baker represented the Mustangs and covered the distance in 1:29.45.

On the diving side, Peter Smithson earned an NCAA Zone Standard and runner-up finish on 3 meter with a score of 358.50.

Colin Feehery claimed the top spot in both the 100 (55.01) and 200 breaststrokes (1:59.50). The Mustangs earned a 2-3 finish in the 200 IM, with Feehery finishing as the runner-up with a time of 1:48.36 and Angus Corbeau taking third (1:53.07).

A pair of Mustangs earned top-three finishes in the 50 freestyle. Lance Butler (20.59) earned a runner-up finish and Charlie Kaye (20.83) claimed third.

SMU earned a 2-3 finish in the 100 freestyle, with Bruns as the runner-up with a time of 45.28 and Lance Butler swimming a 45.46 to land in the third spot. Bruns finished third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.60.

Cotton Fields was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly after touching the wall at 1:51.39. The sophomore clocked in at 1:50.47 in the 200 backstroke to take third place.

Sage Sungail finished in second place in the 200 freestyle after swimming a 1:38.88. In the 100 butterfly, the freshman covered the distance in 49.87 to earn a third place finish.

The Mustangs won the night's final event when Butler, Bruns, Kaye and Baker won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:20.75.
