SMU Volleyball Releases Non-Conference Slate

DALLAS (SMU)-- SMU volleyball and second-year head coach Sam Erger unveiled the 2023 nonconference schedule on Sunday.

"Our mission statement is "to offer the best college volleyball experience possible," Erger said. "We are here to help these athletes pursue their dreams and grow into the best version of themselves and a huge part of that is having the opportunity to measure yourself against the best. We want recruits to know that if you come to SMU we are going to schedule high-level opponents and this nonconference slate reflects that. Dallas is a Mecca of volleyball in this country and I want fans to know they can count on exciting matches happening here. We know that this is a heavy list of opponents and it's going to be tough, but we are excited about how fun that will be. This 2023 group is ready for the challenge and we hope the Dallas volleyball community and Mustang fans will be excited to watch and follow along with some amazing volleyball this year."

SMU's nonconference slate includes three tournaments, one hosted by Nebraska and one by Purdue, before the Mustangs host the SMU Double Tree Invitational in Moody Coliseum. SMU will also host Baylor and Pepperdine in Moody Coliseum this season.

The Mustangs' 11-match nonconference ledger features eight teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2022, including three that won at least one tournament match and four who reached the Sweet 16. Five teams on the docket received votes or finished in the AVCA top-25 rankings.
