Mustangs welcome diver Ava Andersen

DALLAS (SMU)- Head Coach Darian Schmidt has announced the addition of diver Ava Anderson.

Schmidt was named the 2023 Men's American Athletic Conference Diving Coach of the Year and the 2021 Women's AAC Diving Coach of the Year.

Florida High School State Champion: two-time third place individual, two-time first place team… Two-time first place Regional Champion… Two-time first place District Champion… Two-time first-team all-county Broward via Miami Herald… Two time first-team all-county Broward via Sun Sentinel… Two-time MVP for Pine Crest Varsity Diving… Specializing in 1-meter, 3-meter, 5-meter, 7-meter and 10-meter… Coached in high school by Janet Gabriel and Mariusz Podkoscielny — two-time Olympian in 1988 and 1992.

On a personal note, I am excited to see her arrival. I came to SMU from Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale in '64, where I was Co-Captain of the team. Reigniting this channel is great to see.
