Great news for Men's Swimming. World Champion and current National Champion Nic Fink is coming to Dallas and will train with the SMU Men's team. Nic's wife has been hired as an assistant on the Women's team. Nic is the US's best breaststroker. You can't be better than your best athlete(pretty obvious - but also very true). Adding a great example into a training group should significantly help men's team. Their 3 best seniors are staying for another year, plus adding a good freshman class, good transfer group, then Nic, should transform the Men's team to a much higher level. Now we just need the conference piece to get done.
The women picked up a solid transfer as well. Ozzie just got his first commitment for next year in recruiting - a good swimmer from New Zealand.
Things are looking up.

Thanks for sharing, ponyswim. I agree this a wonderful news for SMU’s program to be a training destination for national caliber swimmers. Nic’s presence and performances in training and at meets will bench high performance for our young team. SMU’s long history and tradition of world class swimmers could be reignited by having swimmers such as Nic. Well to the Hilltop.

Great stuff, ponyswim -- thanks for the update. Let's get back to the days when SMU was among the nation's best programs.
