American Athletic Conference Announces Annabelle Corcoran For Conference Community Impact Award

IRVING, Texas (The American/SMU) – Former SMU women's swimming and diving student-athlete Annabelle Corcoran was selected as the recipient of the American Athletic Conference Community Impact Award, the AAC Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced.

The committee annually selects a student-athlete or group of student-athletes from one American institution who has made a lasting impact on their surrounding community or within the campus community. The winner will receives a plaque and the Conference will donate $1000 in their name(s) to their institution's athletic department.

Corcoran served as the president of the 2022-23 SMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, an organization that provides the NCAA with insight on the rules, regulations and policies that affect the lives of the typical student-athlete. For the SMU community, she also led two fundraisers — the SMU Athletics Fire Truck Pull benefitting pediatric cancer and a clothing drive to donate any lightly used athletic gear.

As a part of the SAAC, she spent 10 days in Costa Rica during a service trip and also regularly serves food at the Stewpot, which provides services for homeless and at-risk individuals in the Dallas area.

In the midst of serving the community, Corcoran graduated with her Master of Management Science in the honors program and currently maintains a GPA of 3.85. For the swimming program, she won the 2023 Red and Blue Award and finished 10th in the 2022 CSCAA College Open Water National Championship 5K.

She is as a Graduate Assistant for the women's swimming and diving team.
