If invited to ACC

Postby EastStang » Wed Aug 09, 2023 9:42 pm

With Cal and Stanford, we’ll have to step up our game in other sports. Golf, tennis, volleyball and swimming are in the Stanford/Cal wheelhouse, along with UNC,Wake and UVA for golf and tennis. In soccer, the ACC is loaded. UVA, UNC, Duke, Clemson, even VT and Louisville all have good programs. No gimmies in that league. We still rule equestrian. Big changes.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Cal and Stanford are applying to the ACC for football and basketball only. Their other sports would be placed elsewhere

I haven’t read anywhere that Stanford and Cal would join only for football and basketball. Both schools have many, very strong non-revenue sports which would lack comparable competition in a non-P4 Conference, e.g., Big West or MMC, located in the Pacific/ Mountain Time Zone.

LOGIC tells me that Olympic Sports should schedule regionally until Conference Championships. Football, Basketball and Volleyball can compete in Conference. That might save some on Travel.

An earlier poster suggested SMU host in-season meets and matches between Stanford/ Cal and ACC teams. Dallas is centrally located with great flight connections for East and West Teams.
