Dallmann Hat Trick Leads No. 19 SMU in Dominant 5-0 Win

DALLAS (SMU) - Hermann Trophy Watch List member forward Jelldrik Dallmann notched a hat trick in No. 19 SMU Mustangs’ 5-0 win over UCA at Washburne on Monday. Each of the five goals were assisted by different SMU players.

In the 17th minute, graduate forward Dallmann recorded his first goal — a header — off a beautifully placed corner by junior defender Kyran Pinho. This was followed by a goal from senior forward Jose Ortiz, assisted by freshman midfielder Niv Berkovitz and senior midfielder Harvey Castro, just seven minutes before the end of the first half.

Dallmann has also been placed on the watch list for the Hermann Trophy, the nation's highest individual honor in NCAA soccer.

“It's a team that has some punch going forward, it's a fun team to coach," head coach Kevin Hudson said. “You can give them ideas and put them in positions and empower them to let the creativity come."

Petræus, recently named to the Aug. 28 weekly honor roll after posting two assists in the season opener against UTRGV, aided Dallmann in his second goal of the night at the 56th minute — also assisted by freshman forward Jaylinn Mitchell.

Dallmann went on to secure the hat trick later in the second half off of a penalty kick.

In the 77th minute, freshman midfielder Niv Berkovitz also logged his first career goal, unassisted.

The Mustangs improved to 10-1-1 at Washburne Stadium since the start of last season.

Junior Cole Johnson started in goal and recorded three saves — securing the shutout along with his back four.

SMU continues the season on Friday, Sept. 1 with its first away game of the season against Denver, who is receiving votes. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. and the game will also be broadcast on the Summit League Network.
