SMU men's soccer hosts Yale tonight at 7 p.m.

For those who have watched SMU soccer for a while, Yale has a starter with heavy SMU connections — TJ Presthus is the son of former SMU goalkeeper Tom Presthus and Melissa (Kittner) Presthus. Yale coach said one or both parents might be at the game tonight.

DALLAS, Texas – The Yale men's soccer team fell to No. 22 Southern Methodist University (SMU) 1-0 in a non-conference away game on Monday evening in Dallas, Texas. Fredrik Skilberg netted the game-winner in the 86th minute for the Mustangs in an evenly matched contest.

With the victory, SMU improves to 5-1-0, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-3 so far this season.

Game Notes:
First matchup between Yale and SMU since 2009.
Edwards and Joseph Farouz are both Texas natives.
Both of TJ Presthus' parents played soccer at SMU. His mother, Melissa was captain of the 1995 team which reached the NCAA Tournament semifinals. His father, Tom also served as captain of the SMU men's soccer team.

DALLAS (SMU) - With just four minutes remaining in the game, forward Fredrik Skilberg recorded his first goal of the season — edging No. 22 SMU over the Yale Bulldogs, 1-0.

This is the sophomore's eighth goal of his collegiate career. Four of his eight goals have been game winners.

SMU improved to 5-0 at Washburne Stadium this season and 13-1-1 at home since the start of last season. This is the best home start for the Mustangs since 2019 when they started 6-0.

Cole Johnson, a senior, started and played the full time in goal. The reigning ACC Goalkeeper of the Week recorded one save against the Bulldogs (1-3) — securing his fourth shutout of the season and third straight.

SMU concludes its four game homestand on Friday against Memphis to open American Athletic Conference Play. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
