Nyah Rose, Emma Alvord Earn AAC Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas (SMU/The American) – Freshmen Nyah Rose and Emma Alvord were named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week on Monday.

For Rose, she earns her second AAC Weekly Award this season after being selected as the conference's Freshman of the Week on Sept. 11. She was also named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 4.

This is the first award for Alvord in her Mustang career.

The duo helped lead SMU to a 6-3 victory at Rice on Sept. 14, improving the Mustangs to 5-2-0 on the season. SMU's six goals tied the AAC record for goals in a conference match and marked the fourth time the Mustangs had scored six times in a conference match.

Rose tallied two goals against the Owls, upping her conference-leading total to seven, which also ranks eighth in all of the NCAA.

Alvord scored the first goal of her Mustang career in the 11th minute to begin SMU's scoring barrage against Rice. The Argyle, Texas, native assisted on two of SMU's goals, including one to Rose.

Alvord is the first Mustang to record multiple assists in a match since Courtney Sebazco tallied two against East Carolina in 2019.

Rose's two goals versus Rice marks the second multiple-goal match of her career (3 at SFA).
