Sina Uluave Named AAC Defensive Player Of The Week; Shime Earns Spot On Weekly Honor Roll

IRVING, Texas (SMU)- SMU graduate defensive specialist/libero Sina Uluave was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Senior outside hitter Naya Shime earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Uluave was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the SMU defense in its sweep of ECU, turning in 19 digs. Uluave averaged 3.66 digs per set and eclipsed double digits for the 19th time this season.

Shime finished with double-digit kills (13 ) on .423, hitting for the second consecutive match and 10th time this season. Shime added four digs and three blocks.

SMU hits the road for back-to-back matches against Tulane on Friday and Sunday. The Mustangs checked in at No. 19 in the latest edition of the NCAA Volleyball RPI.
