Mustangs Fall 5-2 At No. 23 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 23 Florida on Sunday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.

"We handled the elements and competed hard," said Head Coach Grant Chen. "Credit to Florida on a great match. We had a lot of positives with Trevor and Maks both getting huge singles wins. It was a really good test for us and we will be better because of it."

SMU moves to 4-1 on the season, including a 3-1 mark against non-conference opponents.

The Gators opened the dual match taking the doubles point and the first two singles matches.

Freshman Trevor Svajda responded by earning the Mustangs' first point of the day, defeating Aidan Kim in straight sets on line one (6-3, 6-3). With the win, Svajda moves to 4-0 in singles play.

Maks Silagy picked up another singles point for SMU with his 6-4, 7-5 victory over JanMagnus Johnson on line six. Silagy's win marked a 5-0 start to the season for the Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, native.
